Winter Blanket Drive
Winter reminds many of warm cozy nights snuggled in blankets. Our organization was able to collect new and gently used blankets from generous neighbors and donate them to “Tri-Valley for Service” who in turn give them to Oakland Shelter. With the help of these blankets, Oakland Shelter kept innumerable homeless warm during the winter.
Holiday with the Seniors
Many seniors reside in the facility without family or children visiting them. The holiday season is intended for spending time with loved ones. Our organization, along with a team of volunteers, dedicated time to uplift the spirits of these seniors. Young children performed, engaged in conversations, shared stories, and presented handmade gifts to the seniors.
Earth Day Clean Up
A group of 25 volunteers supported us and conducted a community clean-up in our neighborhood. The group comprised of adults, high schoolers, and young children. Together we covered approximately 3 miles of land picking up 7 (15 pounds) bags of trash, which was close to 100 pounds of trash. We collected plastic, masks, balloons, dog waste, and other junk which are harmful to the environment and the life around us.
Pup Treats for Pets
Over 8 million pets are sent to animal shelters worldwide every single year, causing overpopulation in many shelters. It becomes hard for shelters to provide enough food and resources for each of the animals. The “Pup Treats for Pets” fundraiser was conducted in order to raise money for our local animal shelter. By baking homemade dog treats and selling them around our community, we were able to raise $500 for our local animal shelter.
Muffins for Moms
India is currently going through a surge of COVID cases, leaving them will a limited number of oxygen tanks for all the hospitals. Our organization decided to donate money to this cause so that they can be able to buy more tanks. We sold muffins to people around our neighborhood to celebrate Mother's Day and raise money for the "Help India Breathe" movement, a movement that is raising money for oxygen tanks.
Card Project
During the tough times of pandemic, health care workers were relentlessly working in hospitals day and night trying to save lives. At the same time there were umpteen patients struggling to fight the COVID battle. Our organization created handmade care and a gift basket which was sent out to UCSF Hospital to help cheer the healthcare workers and patients.
Masks for Frontline Workers
During the beginning stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, many frontline workers were in need of masks for their day-to-day jobs. The “Touch A Soul” organization was one of the first teams to start the mask project to provide to the Bay Area frontline workers. Our organization volunteered to provide “Touch A Soul” with homemade masks. Using organic cotton fabric, we stitched reusable and sustainable masks for these workers in need. The entire project was able to provide 2000+ masks to the frontline workers.
Muffin Fundraiser
Sevathon is an event conducted by the Indian Community Center in Milpitas. It is a platform for the participating nonprofits to raise funds for various types of areas, like, community improvement, education, humanitarian, health and wellness, environment, homeless needs, women empowerment, civil rights, and several others. Our organization donated freshly baked blueberry muffins to help another non-profit “Touch a Soul” organization to help raise funds for their cause.
Salvation Army Food Drive
With the help of a group of volunteers, our organization conducted a food drive and collected groceries. We prepared hygienic and nutritious meals and volunteered at San Jose Salvation army center to provide hot lunches.
Christmas Cookie Fundraiser
There are innumerable children in this world who, unfortunately, suffer from hunger and lack of basic necessities. Our organization baked Christmas cookies during the holiday season and raised money to make an impact. With the funds we raised, we were able to donate to the “Touch a Soul” organization for the “feed a child for an entire year” cause. We are proud to be the first organization to feed a child as part of this cause.
Breads for Blankets
The “Breads for Blankets” fundraiser was in collaboration with our late grandparents, Sushila Sitaram Foundation in order to provide blankets for the children and elders of Santhekallahali, a village located in Karnataka, India. Our organization baked different breads and sold them to raise money for this cause. The cost of one loaf of our baked bread sold in the USA would fund the cost of purchasing two blankets in India. Our partners in India were able to purchase and physically donate to the needy in the village. With the funds raised, we were able to provide over 100 blankets for the village of Santhekallahali.
Sanitary Pad Donation
Many women struggle every day to get period and sanitary products, as prices for these products have been increasing exponentially. We contributed to a fundraiser that wanted to raise money for sanitary cloth pads for the students of Gurukala. The fundraiser was able to get 100 sets of sanitary cloth pads for these students.
Earrings Fundraiser
In 2015 Cyclone "Vardah" hit in and around Chennai city, India massively which resulted in heavy floods in November–December 2015. They affected the Coromandel Coast region of the South Indian state, Tamil Nadu. More than 500 people were killed and over 1.8 million people were displaced. Our organization created earrings using beads, clay charms, and quilled trinkets and raised money through an earring fundraiser. The money raised was used to provide necessities for some of the impacted people.
